The Story Behind The Business
"A leap of faith"
Welcome to Hershey’s Ice Cream of Copiague – a family-owned ice cream shop with a story as sweet as our sundaes.
Hershey’s Ice Cream of West Islip was born from a heartfelt moment at a Pre-K graduation eight years ago. After Christine's second daughter, Diana, said she wanted to own an ice cream shop when she grew up, Christine happened to drive past the West Islip store and saw a “For Sale” sign in the window. She took a leap of faith with no experience, just passion, determination, and a whole lot of heart. She taught herself everything from working with ice cream to designing custom cakes, all while raising two daughters as a single mom.
Christine had spent 15 years as a general manager at Domino’s Pizza before diving headfirst into entrepreneurship. What started as a single location in West Islip has now grown into something even larger. She’s built a loyal, close-knit community that adores her shop, and now, she’s doing it all over again here in Copiague.
Opening the Copiague location has been a year-long journey marked by hard work, late nights, and unwavering dedication. From finding the right space (which we believe was once a convenience store) to completely gutting and renovating it, every step has been a labor of love. The neighborhood has been incredibly supportive, and during our soft opening, we were overwhelmed by how excited the community was to finally have an ice cream shop nearby.
It is a true family-run business. Christine’s oldest daughter, Angelica, helps with marketing, flyers, and all things behind the scenes. Diana is now 12, and Christine is also the proud grandma of Angelica's three kids: Liliana, Michael, and Gabriella. Everything Christine does is for her family, and she pours her heart into these shops every single day.
Thank you for supporting a small, family-owned business.
